I hope you're having an absolutely fabulous day, sweetie, and that this behemoth of a chapter helps contribute to the festivities. Because yes, folks, this is the chapter I've been promising--the one where the situation with Willow and Spike's bond is finally *explained*. In detail. Lots of detail. Which translates to a lot of dialogue and no real action, but I'm hoping you all enjoy it, all the same. For those needing to catch up (and this chapter makes several references to backstory, so playing catch up is a particularly good idea), all the previous chapters for this story can be found here. You all thought I was going to go back into hibernation, didn't you? Nope, I'm still working on this story, but I like to keep the writing a chapter ahead of the posting, and chapter 96 was kicking my ass, which meant it took me longer than expected to finish it. In case you're curious, once chapter 96 was finished, it clocked in at about 5,000 words. That's seriously too long for one chapter--because honestly, people write entire *stories* that are less than 5,000 words (granted, they're usually people who aren't me, since I'm no good at stopping myself from being long-winded, even in a one-shot)--except I couldn't think of any good place to cut what I've got, or break it into two chapters. It's the part where things are finally *explained*, so yes, rest assured that an explanation is on its way, and that furthermore, yes, I *do* know what the explanation is, and all of this is leading up to it. However, the explanation is not in *this* chapter, because I'm mean like that. Oh, and just a warning--this chapter ends *really* abruptly. Trust me, it was the best breaking point I could find. I hope you all enjoy it anyway!

Moreover, this is a ridiculously *long* chapter . . . which hopefully makes up for the fact that not a ton happens, and very little is explained. Two updates in one month! Try not to faint from shock. Truth be told, I wrote this chapter last week, but decided to hold off on posting because I didn't want to get hopes up about regular updates if my writing kick wore off. But then I sat down today and wrote chapter 94 which ended up being massive (truly, it's over 4,000 words all on its own) and, in my own humble opinion, pretty darn good, and decided that as long as I keep one chapter in the can, there's no harm in posting. I can't guarantee I'll keep updating regularly, but I have enjoyed diving back into this story, and now that we're in the home stretch, I'd like to be able to wrap it up. No, I'm not dead. No, I haven't abandoned fanfic. And no, I especially haven't abandoned this fic. I haven't felt particularly motivated lately, but I recently had a pretty bruising low self-esteem day (please don't ask; I don't really want to talk about it) and decided that the best way to cheer myself up was to depress all of you. :-) Yep, beware one and all, thar be angst ahead. On the bright side, you're getting three chapters in one, and on an even brighter side, I'm pretty certain this is the last bit of hardcore angst in the story. There's still *one* more plot twist (though I'm pretty sure most of you have already seen it coming), but *this* is about as bleak as things get for Spike and Willow. For those needed a reminder of all that's come before, all the previous chapters for this story can be found here. I hope you enjoy the newest bits! Erm . . . I have a confession to make. This is actually the last chapter I've got fully written. Chapter 9 *was* almost done, but then I realized that it would work better if I rewrote it completely, and as for chapter 10, I'm still scrambling for ideas on exactly what I want to happen. Once I get it hammered out, chapter 11 should be a snap, and it should *also* be the final chapter of the story. Anyway, if I get chapter 9 finished tomorrow and chapter 10 *begun*, at the very least, then I'll go ahead and post, but if not . . . I'm afraid I'll have to hold out on posting more. Please don't hate me?

A/N: Just so you all know, there really is a medieval fair in Sussex that I (hopefully) described fairly accurately. Of course, it runs on the bank holiday that's at the end of August instead of the beginning . . . but I had to squeeze the dates a bit. In my original draft, the story was set a year later, and I had Draco and Hermione go to see the eclipse, which is also accurate (for 1999, at any rate), because I really am one of those anal people who feels the need to get obscure details like that correct.
